Surfing Madonna 4th Annual Exhibit
Surfing Madonna Oceans Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Encinitas, California and was officially formed in 2013 by Robert Nichols and Mark Patterson (artist of the Surfing Madonna mosaic). Our intention is to partner with local arts groups and recognize the excellence of local artists and promote the arts through active engagement between artists and the community.

Ebb and Flow: Giant Kelp Forests through Art, Science and the Archives
Beginning January 12, 2024, the UC San Diego Library will host Ebb and Flow: Giant Kelp Forests through Art, Science and the Archives, an exhibit curated by Oriana Poindexter ’15, Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) alumna and artist. The exhibit displays works created as a result of continued observation of the local giant kelp forest environment by artists, scientists and community members over the past 134 years.

The Last Group Show
The exhibition opens Saturday November 11th 2023 with a reception from 5pm-8pm.
Regular gallery viewing hours continue 11am-4pm Tuesday - Saturday (closed Sundays and Mondays). The last day to view the exhibition is December 16th 2023 11am-4pm.

Ode to the Blue Forest
Ode to the Blue Forest is a collection of original cyanotypes by Oriana Poindexter made with fragments of kelp and seaweed collected from La Jolla’s own blue forest, just offshore. These camera-less photographs display the wisdom and beauty inherent in nature, and inspire contemplation of the evolving relationship humans maintain with the ocean.
Join us for the Opening Reception on July 15, 3-5pm. Open to the Public.
On View July 6 - August 13, 2022.
