Sunday April 23, 2023, from 12:00 - 2:00 pm

Location: Urban Farm Fermentory, 200 Anderson Street, Portland, ME

All ages are welcome. Children below the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

RAIN DATE: If we get rained out on Sunday 4/23, we have a tentative rain date scheduled for Thursday, 4/27 at 12-2pm. If we are forced to rescheduel due to weather and you are unable to make it to the rescheduled time, you are eligible for a refund.

Join Oriana Poindexter in Portland during Maine Seaweed Week for an interactive cyanotype workshop. Learn this early photographic process and use fresh Maine seaweed to create your own cyanotype prints using photo chemistry techniques first developed in the 1840s.

This workshop will teach you the fundamentals of the cyanotype process, its history, and seaweed identification. It will culminate with each participant creating three original cyanotype prints - usually something frame worthy.

The first portion of the workshop will involve an introduction, demonstration, and seaweed identification. The second portion will be a printing session. If you have personal materials you’d like to bring to use for printing (sentimental objects, pressed botanicals or seaweeds, etc), please feel free to bring them.

The cost of this workshop is $125, and is limited to 15 participants. Registration fee includes all materials and instruction, as well as one beverage from Urban Farm Fermentory. Once registration is complete, your spot is reserved and you’ll begin receiving event reminders.
